Oblivion Brewing Co.

There’s still a handful of breweries in town where you can catch a founder brewing up a fresh batch of beer while you’re sitting in the tasting room throwing back a pint; Heck, he may just join ya when he’s done. That brewer is Darin Butschy, who made his way to Bend pre Y2K after a stint as head brewer over at SLO Brewing in California. With a focus still on brewing, and seeing the surge of craft breweries popping up since he arrived (Central Oregon saw 15 breweries come online from 2000 – 2012), Darin and partner Meghann started planning for what was to become Oblivion Brewing. In 2013 Bend got its first taste of Oblivion, and If you happy to be at BTBS when they tapped it, it was a fun time.

There was a short time in 2017 where you could have visited the Oblivion pub – it was a cool spot, a proper pub on Galveston Ave with Oblivion on tap (Sunriver Brewing now resides there). Today Oblivion is located just off of Empire Ave in a most unassuming building. It’s in an area that has become a hub for Central Oregon brewing facilities – some massive, some modest. Regardless of size, it really comes down to good beer.
